Pencey Prep is a military school in Agerstown, Pennsylvania. Holden’s family history made him go there because of the military and his father wanted him to. Pencey Prep is a school where there is nothing fun to do and everybody leaves for the weekend. Holden is failing four out of five of his classes so he decides to drop out and go back home.
